In today’s episode, we will first learn about our “Saint of the Week” St. Peter Claver, who dedicated himself to serve the African slaves in Columbia.  We will hear a homily for the Fourth Sunday of Advent about the Gospel of Luke reminding us about Mary’s “yes” when approached by the angel to bear the Son of God.  In the segment “Catholics in the News”, we will learn about Sr. Lisa Maurer who is a Benedictine nun with an unusual job.  In the segment, “I Don’t Get It”, I will try to make sense of why a Santa in a mall turned away an autistic girl and her dog.  In “Truth in the Media”, we will learn about a book written by Sr. Miriam James Heidland entitled, “Loved as I Am.”  Finally, during our Truth Topic of the Week, we will hear about Pope Francis’ call for more women theologians.  All of this plus a beautiful piano rendition from Mario Ajero who plays, “Away in a Manger.” This and more on Episode 18 of What is Truth.

In today’s episode, we will first learn about our “Saint of the Week” St. Lucy, who was a martyr during the Roman persecution in the 4th century.  We will hear a homily for the Third Sunday of Advent about the Gospel of John telling us again about the work of John the Baptist and how the Lord will come.  In the segment “Catholics in the News”, we will learn about Barth Bracy and his fight in Connecticut to ensure health plans do not pay for abortions.  In the segment, “I Don’t Get It”, I will try to understand Seattle’s decision regarding internet access for the homeless.  In “Truth in the Media”, we will learn about a new documentary from the Courage apostolate, an organization that supports people with same sex attraction to live chaste lives.  Finally, during our Truth Topic of the Week, we will hear Pope Francis’ exhortation to feed the world and safeguard the planet.  All of this plus music from the A Breath of Fresh Air who exhorts us to be,” Just Like Peter.”  This and more on Episode 17 of What is Truth.

In the segment, “I Don’t Get It”, I will attempt to understand why the PTA at a public school in the Boston area apparently worked behind closed doors to prevent elementary school students from being exposed to the evil dangers of a...Christmas tree!!!  In “Truth in the Media”, we will learn about a Randy Hain book about how we can be a witness to the Lord.  Finally, during our Truth Topic of the Week, we will hear about the U.S. bishops who are imploring Congress to enact stronger medical conscience protections against state abortion laws by passing the Abortion Non-Discrimination Act.
